Startup The Future, third edition
For the third year, Hello Tomorrow ran the Startup The Future programme sponsored by Galp, looking for entrepreneurs who are reshaping the energy landscape.
The 2024 edition focused on advanced digital technologies to improve the efficiency, reliability and sustainability of energy infrastructure, in particular for biofuels and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), as well as renewable assets, decarbonised energy management, energy access and mobility.
What are we looking for?
While the focus is on the areas below, solutions that address the overall targets were also encouraged to apply. Innovations transforming the way we drive, such as EV charging solutions (from integrated solar and storage to mass infrastructure) and vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication, were also sought.
Digital tech for sustainable fuels
AI and sensor-based object recognition to automate waste sorting and boost fuel production from residues, and AI and blockchain for supply chain visibility, traceability and sustainability.
Renewable asset design and management
Non-conventional storage batteries, installation techniques that decarbonise construction or solve curtailment, solar module diagnosis, new materials from PV cells to wind blades, and autonomous PV maintenance.
Decarbonised energy management
Energy audits, AI-driven energy management platforms for factories and price arbitrage, heat decarbonisation through electrification, and air compressor control and monitoring.
Energy for underserved communities
Affordable access to services, energy-efficient solutions, mini-grids for generation and distribution, and renewable home-energy systems, small (0-10W) and large (10-100W).
